LIENS Work Experience Program (internships)

The LIENS Work Experience Program is an internship program that seeks to offer French-speaking immigrants a first work experience in Prince Edward Island. The main objective is obviously to help integrate immigrant adults into the local workforce, particularly in their field of studies or of past experience.

The program helps its interns learn new skills and to meet local people who work in the field, in the hopes of accessing future employment.

The internships generally extend from 10 to 12 weeks, dependant on the situation, the industry, the employer and other factors.

The program provides to the employer a reimbursement of part of the salary paid to the intern for the entire internship. The employer must pay the intern the regular salary that would be paid to any other employee that is just starting or who possesses the intern’s skills and experience.

We keep in touch with both the employer and the intern throughout the internship to ensure that everything is working out well and that both parties are happy with the arrangement.
